Maintain polarity across each pair; reversed polarity reduces low-frequency response and shifts stereo imaging. The orange or orange-white conductor carries dashboard illumination data; attach it only if the head unit supports dimming input.

Integration With Steering Controls and Data Bus

The small data module connected inline with the harness interprets vehicle network signals and translates them into control commands for the head unit. Plug the module’s 4-pin connector into the harness branch labeled “DATA.” Steering wheel control lines typically terminate in a 3.5 mm jack or two loose leads (KEY1 and KEY2). If the radio supports analog key input, connect KEY1 and ground; KEY2 remains unused in most installations. After powering the system, enter the radio’s control-learning menu and assign functions by pressing each steering button sequentially.

Before reinstalling dashboard panels, perform a full functional check. Turn the ignition to ACC and confirm that the head unit powers up within two seconds.
