Connect the ignition control unit to the stator source coil, pickup trigger sensor, ignition coil, ground line, and engine stop circuit using the correct terminal layout. One lead from the stator provides alternating current to charge the ignition capacitor, while another conductor from the trigger sensor sends a timing pulse that determines spark release. Incorrect placement of these conductors prevents spark generation and the engine will crank without ignition.

The stator charging lead typically carries 50–100 volts AC during engine rotation. This conductor feeds the ignition control module, where the internal capacitor stores energy until the trigger signal arrives. The pickup sensor wire delivers a short timing pulse of about 0.5–2 volts, which signals the module to discharge stored energy into the ignition coil.

The output conductor from the ignition module connects to the primary terminal of the ignition coil. During discharge, voltage at this point rises sharply, creating a high-voltage pulse on the secondary coil winding that reaches the spark plug. A separate ground conductor links the module housing to engine metal, stabilizing electrical reference and preventing erratic spark timing.

A fifth conductor normally connects to the engine stop circuit. When the handlebar kill switch closes, this lead routes to ground and halts capacitor discharge. This instantly stops spark generation, shutting down the engine without interrupting fuel flow or mechanical rotation.

Connect the stator source coil lead to the ignition control module terminal that supplies charging voltage for the internal capacitor. During engine rotation this conductor normally produces 50–100 V AC. A second stator lead from the pickup trigger sensor must attach to the timing input terminal. This signal is a short pulse usually between 0.5 and 2 V that determines the exact moment the capacitor releases energy to fire the spark.

The high-energy discharge output from the ignition module connects directly to the primary side of the ignition coil. Use a short insulated conductor and keep it separated from lighting or charging circuits. The module ground lead should attach firmly to engine metal or the frame near the coil mounting point; electrical resistance between this ground and engine metal should stay below 0.2 ohms. A final lead normally links to the engine stop switch. When the switch closes, this conductor routes to ground and immediately halts spark generation, stopping the engine while the crankshaft continues rotating.

Locate the stator charge terminal first; this connection carries alternating current from the engine generator to charge the ignition capacitor. During cranking or idle rotation the voltage from this lead usually measures 50–100 V AC. A second terminal receives the trigger signal from the pickup sensor mounted near the flywheel. That signal arrives as a short timing pulse around 0.5–2 V and determines the exact spark moment.

Another terminal sends the discharge pulse toward the ignition coil primary winding. When the capacitor releases stored energy, voltage spikes through this conductor and the coil transforms it into several thousand volts for the spark plug. Keep this lead short and routed away from lighting or charging circuits so electrical noise does not disturb the discharge event.

The remaining connections handle system reference and engine shutdown. One terminal attaches to chassis or engine ground, stabilizing the electronic circuit inside the ignition control box. The final terminal connects to the handlebar kill switch. When the switch closes, the circuit routes to ground and blocks capacitor discharge, stopping spark generation immediately.
